Trend Micro Acquires Third Brigade

Trend Micro Incorporated, a leader in network antivirus and Internet content security software and services, has acquired the Third Brigade business, a privately-held security and compliance software company headquartered in Ottawa, Canada. Trend Micro bought the business to accelerate its dynamic datacenter security strategy, and to provide customers with access to critical security and compliance software and vulnerability response services. These all contribute to protecting physical, virtual and cloud servers, and corporate endpoints, from sophisticated malware and malicious activity.

Third Brigade and Trend Micro share a common vision for extending proven security and compliance techniques across physical, virtual and cloud computing environments. Combined with Trend Micro’s substantial industry, channel, and financial strengths, this will allow Third Brigade to accelerate its pace of innovation while reaching a global market of partners and customers.

This acquisition recognizes and builds on the immense synergy between the two companies’ sales, marketing and R&D teams that have been working hand-in-hand over the last 18 months on the Trend Micro™ Intrusion Defense Firewall plug in for OfficeScan™, the result of an OEM agreement between the two companies.

Trend Micro plans to grow the Third Brigade business within its own datacenter security business after the closing, protecting Third Brigade customers’ investments, and ensuring the long-term viability and success of Third Brigade products.
