OSSEC HIDS is an open source Host Intrusion Detection System that complements Trend Micro Deep Security. It:

• Performs log analysis, integrity checking, real-time alerting and active response.
• Runs on most operating systems, including Microsoft® Windows®, Solaris™, Linux, OpenBSD, FreeBSD and MacOS.

Third Brigade acquired the OSSEC project in June 2008, and was subsequently acquired by Trend Micro. Trend Micro will:

• Continue to contribute to the open source community with new releases of OSSEC.
• Provide commercial support and training to the OSSEC open source community.
• Incorporate OSSEC technology into future product releases.
